Tennessee fans might have worried last week when linebacker commit Dalton Santos visited Texas A&M on Sept. 24.
The linebacker from Van (Texas) High School told GigEm247.com he was intrigued by Texas A&M’s entry into the SEC and the possibility of playing at a school closer to his family in Texas.
But Santos doesn’t appear to be considering a switch to Texas A&M. He told Volquest.com on Sunday that he’s sticking with his pledge to the Vols.
“I’m solid,” he told the website. “Tennessee is where I’m going to be. I might take my officials because not too many people get to do that. It’s a great experience, but nothing is going to change. It was a long process for me and I’m happy with where I’m at. It’s where I want to be. I’m totally firm with my decision.”
An even stronger sign that Santos is firm with his commitment to UT? He told Volquest that his family plans to move to Knoxville next summer.
That’s good news for UT. Santos is ranked the nation’s No. 15 inside linebacker by Rivals.com for 2012. ESPN thinks even more highly of Santos, ranking him the top inside linebacker in the nation.
Santos plans to take an official visit to UT on Oct. 15 when the Vols host LSU.
