Forward Alex Poythress from Northeast High School in Clarksville, Tenn., has chosen to sign with Kentucky.
Poythress picked Kentucky over Florida, Vanderbilt and Memphis. Poythress is considered the nation’s fourth-best small forward and 17th-best overall prospect by ESPN.com.
“He’s an extremely gifted athlete that can run like a gazelle,” Northeast coach Al Cooper told ESPN. “He has a huge wingspan and the best fit for him was someone who allows him to face the basket and attack.”
Poythress joins a Kentucky class that will once again rank among the nation’s elite. Center Willie Cauley and guard Archie Goodwin have already joined the class.
Kentucky is still recruiting several other highly-touted prospects, including forwards Shabazz Muhammad, Anthony Bennett and Devonta Pollard.
