In 2000, back before Missouri hired Gary Pinkel and Mark Richt accepted the Georgia job, the current longest-tenured coach in the SEC interviewed with the Tigers:
“My wife and I thought a lot about going to Columbia, what that city was like and what it might be like for our young family. We thought it might be a good fit for us. Watching from afar, I think Coach Pinkel has done a phenomenal job there. We’re glad to have them join our league.”
Richt, who was the offensive coordinator at Florida State at the time, interviewed with current Mizzou AD Mike Alden in Tallahassee.
