It would be simply amazing were Malzahn to join a UNC program that A) has never really supported football (which is why Mack Brown left) and B) oh yeah is about to get the hammer in terms of NCAA sanctions. Also, as his background is basically Arkansas high school, Tulsa, Arkansas and Auburn OC ... recruiting for an ACC school is totally different. Still, it beats the Ole Miss job and I bet he probably wishes that he had taken the Vanderbilt job. If Malzahn does stay, Auburn needs to decide what type of offense they are going to run and stick with it. Tyrick Rollison (their first big time QB recruit who is no longer around), Kiehl Frazier, C.J. Uzomah and obviously Cam Newton were dual threat guys. But Clint Moseley, Zeke Pike and some of their other QB targets are pro-style guys. Kind of reminds me of the waffling that Mack Brown did at Texas, recruiting dual threat, spread and pro-style QBs and never sticking with any one system, and right now doesn't appear to have a single QB that can play.

But regardless of whether Malzahn stays or leaves, Ted Roof has got to go. What success Auburn did have on defense was primarily due to their DL coach Tracy Rocker. Now that Rocker is in the NFL ... well remember Roof's defenses at Georgia Tech and Duke: brutal. If Roof doesn't go after this season, Chizik will find that good feelings from national title seasons don't last very long in the SEC.
