An SEC Team Worthy Of The NFL

Tyler B.

As the SEC continues its utter domination of the college football world it’s pretty clear as to why. Not only does the SEC have the best coaches in the country, just take a look at the talent below that will soon matriculate into the NFL beginning next year. *Prospect ratings are via CBS Sports and I’m only highlighting the players who made the All-SEC teams on both sides of the ball. Keep in mind there are several few players left off the list that will end up ranked as the #1 or #2 players at their respective positions.

First… Three thoughts as the season draws to a close.

  1. With a set roster of the players below how would this team fare in the NFL? Let’s say this team joins the NFL as an expansion team, adding current and future SEC draftees not on this list along the way for depth, would this team find itself in the Super Bowl within three years? More than likely. Could you say that about any other conference?
  2. Many are saying (mostly the media) if LSU wins the BCS title it could go down as the greatest college football team ever. If that’s the case, how can anyone be upset with Alabama playing them again for the title? Considering Bama outplayed LSU, but ended up losing by three in overtime, where does this put Bama? Almost beating a potential “greatest team ever” in their first game shouldn’t they be first in line to play them again? Of course they should
  3. Since a BCS +1 Play-off seems inevitable at this point fans should get used to seeing two SEC teams play for the BCS title. The irony? This proposed “new system” is designed to open the door for other teams to have a shot to play for it all, but it’s only opening the door for a second SEC team – every other year? – to ensure more SEC  teams playing each other for the title. Careful what you wish for…
