Maybe he does not want to step into a pressure cooker or near fail environment. ArkSt. will bring him close to where he coached High School ball. Many of the big name jobs that his name has come up for the last year involve major rebuilding projects and living in a fish bowl. Maybe after experiencing the fishbowl for a couple of years at Auburn he knows he does not want to live like that.

Someone at Arkansas State is claiming it’s a done deal. If this is true, I still have to say I’m surprised he would take that big of a pay cut.

And another reason why I see it hard for Malzahn to go to Arkansas State. From what I’m hearing they’ve put together a deal worth $600,000 a year. But he makes twice as much as the OC at Auburn.

I think he could do well at Arkansas State. But I’d be a little surprised if he settled for it. His name has been thrown around much bigger programs than that. Granted it would be easier to start at that level and work your way up. But I still would think he’d wait it out a little longer till he could get a chance at a somewhat bigger program. Wasn’t Vandy interested in him last year?

Depends on whether or not he thinks his number is up. If he believes he can rebuild the Auburn offense he will stick around and politic for a bigger job one day. If not, then he will take what he can get. His type of offense would be much more successful at a lower level.
