Coaching changes can often have an effect on recruiting.
That’s why it was natural for Tennessee fans to wonder on Thursday how wide receiver coach Charlie Baggett’s departure might affect UT’s recruiting.
So far the Vols appear to be in OK shape.
Wide receiver commit Keithon Redding from Decatur, Ga., told MrSEC he was “shocked” to hear Baggett is leaving UT but remains committed to the Vols.
“He played a big role in me committing to Tennessee,” Redding said. “But it doesn’t affect me.”
It hasn’t affected receiver commit Jason Croom from Norcross, Ga., either. Croom indicated via twitter that his commitment to UT is firm.
Athlete Justin King from Dunwoody, Ga., told MrSEC via text message that he remains committed to UT, but he did express an interest in the stability of the rest of the Vols’ coaching staff.
Uncommitted wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson from Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College will be a prospect to watch.
Patterson, who’s considered the nation’s top junior college prospect by Rivals.com, has already visited UT and is still considering Georgia, Arkansas and Auburn.
