Following a big recruiting weekend as well as several coaching moves and hires, there’s been some shifting on our commitment big board.  With signing day just two weeks from today, we thought we’d give you a look at the updated commitment list for each SEC program.

As always, we use Rivals.com’s current lists and star rankings.  We assign one point for every star handed out by Rivals (and we give a point to all 0-star players, too). 

First, we’ll look at our quantity measure to see how much total talent a program is set to bring in on February 1st.

Now we look at our quality measure which reveals the point value of each program’s average commitment:

This time around we also want to look at the high-end commits alone.  Four- and five-star recruits — on paper — are the most likely to become difference-makers at the next level.  That doesn’t mean all of those recruits pan out or that two-star guys can’t become All-Americans.  Not by a long shot.  However, there’s little doubt that a team inking 15 four-star guys has a better shot at finding some real playmakers than a team that signs just 5 four-star guys.  So below, here’s how each SEC program is doing on the four- and five-star commitment front:


High-End Star Rankings

Finally, we’ve put together our own recruiting rankings for the SEC based upon the three tables above.  Some sites hand out class rankings based upon the number of blue chip signees.  Others rank classes by looking at total talent entering a school. 

We want to combine all three of the measures above — quantity, quality, and the sheer volume of four- and five-star commits only.  Using the schools’ rankings within the SEC in each category at the moment, we rank the current commitment hauls as follows:
