SEC Headlines 2/26/2012

1. Kentucky 83 – Vanderbilt 74.  Career-high 28 points for Anthony Davis as Wildcats claim SEC title. Vanderbilt struggles on the boards – Wildcats with 10 offensive rebounds.

2. Kentucky freshman Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.  ”I’m graduating here. I’m not going nowhere.”

3. Georgia 76 – Florida 62.  Despite loss, Gators still earn a bye in SEC Tournament. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope leads the Bulldogs with 18 points.

4. Technical foul against Florida before the game even started.

5. Alabama 67 – Mississippi State 50.  JaMychal Green returns and freshman Levi Randolph scores a career-high 18 points. Five straight losses for Bulldogs - tied for second-worst stretch ever under Rick Stansbury. Missing Rodney Hood.

6. Kevin Scarbinsky: Mississippi State “may lead the nation in underachievement.”

7. Arkansas 77 – Auburn 71.  Razorbacks get their first road win of the year. Last time Arkansas won on the road?  At Auburn a year ago. Tigers blow a 17-point lead.

8. Ole Miss 72 – LSU 48.  Rebels lose by 26, then win by 24 against Tigers. Tigers’ Justin Hamilton held to two points.

9. Tennessee 73 – South Carolina 64. Make that six-of-seven for the surging Volunteers. Win despite 21 turnovers. Struggling Gamecocks at the bottom of the conference.

10. If the SEC sticks with an eight-game league schedule for football- something’s gotta give.
