Kentucky linebacker Ridge Wilson has been suspended indefinitely from the Wildcats program because he “broke the team rules,” according to a UK spokesperson. The rule in question? Don’t get busted trafficking drugs.
Wilson was arrested in Louisville over the weekend and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance. WDRB-TV in Louisville reports that Wilson was spotted by police in an area “known for drug trafficking and drug use.” When officers approached his car, Wilson appeared “extremely nervous” and “kept mentioning (that) he played football for the University of Kentucky.”
Apparently that didn’t go to far with the cop on the scene who searched Wilson’s car and found a pair of jeans in the back seat. In the jeans was a bag of Xanax pills. Oops. When Wilson was searched, he allegedly had $1,947 in the jeans he was wearing. Oops again.
Wilson recorded 47 tackles for Kentucky last season.
