From Rowdy, a good one… did ya hear the one about Spanky gettin down on his knee’s and beggin Shaq Wiggins, a Georgia commit, to sign with the TIED ? Shaq told Spanky that he was “honoring” his verbal with the University of Georgia and that Spanky could get up off his knee’s. Saban replied, “but I am up off my knee’s”. Go Dawg’s & Tigers !!!!

Why not just give them 30 days after verbal and then permit the LOI to be signed and it be binding on the school and player. Also if after a YEAR at chosen school, player should be able to change schools without sitting a year..

“I don’t really know yet, but I’m 100% committed to Georgia”. Er, OK, I guess. I want to know why there is an early commitment period if the player or university can back out of the agreement any time , including right up to Signing Day.
I would like to see a 30 day window after a verbal commitment, during which player or school can back out. After this time expires, the player will not be eligible for another football scholarship, but he would be allowed to take financial aid or a non-football scholarship elsewhere. But he would have to sit a year, not eligible to practice or use the football facilities at the FBS level like a redshirt can. After that sit-out year , he would have 4 years of eligibility. I think this plan would relieve a lot of stress for players, coaches, and parents. And the early commitment would still be entirely voluntary.
