I guess we’re still assuming Arkansas will ever recruit like the big boys of the country. Even if they were 2-3 games total from playing for the NC the past two years.

@John at MrSEC There is no good that can come from using either one of those words to describe Alabama or Auburn fans. If it’s in your SEC thesaurus, you should probably take it out. This coming from someone also in the media that tends to think things like this are silly, but this website is better than that.

We’ve referred to Bammers and Barners because they often refer to one another as that. It’s a nickname. It’s hardly “derogatory” to the point of someone being offended. There’s nothing racist, sexist or off-color about the term. And I’m sure everyone has their own definition of exactly what a Bammer or Barner is.

In our book — because they’ve tagged each other with these nicknames — it’s a quick description of someone from Alabama or Auburn.

And we’ll continue to use it when we’ve already said Alabama, Auburn, Crimson Tide, Tide, Bama, Tigers, Plainsmen multiple times in a story. It’s in our SEC thesaurus.

John, as I’m sure you’re aware, the term “Bammer” is a derogatory term used by the rivals of The University of Alabama is describe (in their view) an ignorant, arrogant, Alabama fan. Usually, a fan with no connection to the Capstone, whatsoever. Surely, as one who reports on the SEC, you know this. Why would you even use such a term in an article? I’ve never seen you use “Barner” in reference to an Auburn fan. As stated earlier, (and before you respond with the ‘That’s not how I meant it.’ reply) surely, as one who reports on the SEC, you know this is often a derogatory remark. Why even go there?

SC just got the commitment of Alfy Hill today they are now up to 2 commits. Not sure how he’s graded since he’s JUCO but was 4 star 2 years ago so I’m happy with it.
