I used to think Spurrier was a genius he constantly made the fans hate him and no one paid attention to his players. He did the trash talking and his players played. Now he’s at it again. USC is no where near as talented as his Gator teams were. He used to trash talk you and run up the score now he just talks. He has lost to every SEC team since becoming SC head coach and was humbled for a while now he’s poking fun at other programs again. I admit I loved it when Vandy finally beat him and he threw his visor and headset, but I don’t think he’s being as mean spirited this time around.

Yeah, yeah. When he actually wins somewhere else, I’ll listen to him. He beat Alabama in 2010. So what? So did two other teams. When he wins the SEC, I’ll listen to his narcissistic remarks. Until then, he should keep popping Osteo bi-flex and and shut up.

For the young cats on this board who know not hip from hep, the long term beauty of the SEC is the coaches. In my lifetime I have seen entertaining coaches in pretty much all the sports the SEC competes in. Last season when the networks called LSU “must see TV” just to see what Les Miles would do next carries on a long tradition of colorful coaches patrolling the games. I for one believe the SEC is better for it! Love or hate Darth Visor, you can not deny he gets people to watch the games.

I love Spurrier. Mainly because he’s still picking on Georgia like he did while he was Florida when I was growing up. I don’t think we have to worry about him jabbing at UF but I would still think it’s funny even if he did. It’s refreshing to have someone that doesn’t just spout out “coach speak” all the time and never show any personality.

@allyugadawg He was referring to the 2010 season which SC won 17-6 and it wasn’t really close most of the game. Last year no one could call that a whipping. Both teams gave the other enough chances to win, SC just took the last opportunity given so they won.

And no one can call SC’s history illustrious. Half of Spurrier’s tenure has been trying to get the team even remotely competitive so he refers to his most recent years as that’s what he views as an accurate portrayal of his team. But he works within the outlined rules for suspensions USC has, UGA just has the most strict. Spurrier does nothing in that regard that Saban or Miles doesn’t do.

And little Stevie is right. Georgia usually does have suspended players when we meet up. We have the toughest discipline policy in the SEC and we punish players when they make mistakes, unlike South Carolina. Over the years we watched him suspend players for practices or for a selected cupcake game, but rarely ever against Georgia. But then, if it took my team 100+ years to have a 10-win season and their record against UGA was a laughably pathetic 15 wins in 63 tries, I suppose I might cheat to try to get a win more than once a decade as well….

You’ve got to admit that Spurrier is one of the most quick-witted Head Coaches to ever walk the sidelines but as a Georgia grad, this one makes me chuckle but doesn’t otherwise annoy or irritate me. When he was at Florida, year in and year out, he clearly ran a superior program so he always came across as a bad winner who loved to rub it in. At SC, specifically with regards to discipline issues, he’s got no room to talk so I have to take it ironically.

I love Spurrier now and when he was at Florida. He is just funny. Free Shoes U, Burned coloring books at Auburn, etc. He is just a great guy for soundbites and always fires up both his own fan base and the ones he jabs at. Granted it isn’t mentioned here, but he does go on in his interview to compliment Saban and calls him the best coach, but that’s beside the point. I just want him to continue to coach somewhere in the SEC (preferably stick at SC for our sake) until he is 100 just so we can laugh at his quips.
