The story was picked up by The Associated Press. In looking at over 30 newspapers and sites from across the SEC between 7 and 9am ET this morning I saw the story linked to and re-told at least five times by papers outside the state of Tennessee. By my definition, that’s national coverage. If it weren’t, I wouldn’t have felt the need to provide any background perspective and would have simply tossed it in amongst today’s headlines.

Is UT really in the national headlines? I tried ESPN, the AJC, the Tennessean, everything I could think of and no one outside of Knoxville seems to be saying anything about this.
