John,

I know you do not talk SEC baseball, but it may be an insight to the future. In the old days John Doe donor got assigned seats that carried over to the NCAA post season. He dealt face to face with the folks in his schools athletic / donor / ticket office as they were the ones in charge of the actual tickets. Now it is IMG / StubHub / Ticketmaster / NCAA that sells the tickets. None of these are home town folks but operate in distant cities and different states, and do not know John Doe face to face, nor do they care. This may be fine and dandy except in the modern world of pure greed John Doe is the guy writing the checks, and he is getting older. John Doe Jr. does not have the same connection, and he may stay home and watch it on TV. While this is great for the advertising coffers of the media companies, John Doe Jr. may not write checks to the old alma mater like his dad did.

I love watching SEC sports live, but when Bama and LSU play games in Jerryworld, and UK plays games in the Georgia Dome (which is terrible for basketball) and they are not included in the donor tickets you have reached a tipping point of turning loyal fans off from going to a game. All around the league I am hearing more and more John Doe stories and how they are reaching their limit on giving to their schools while treated like peasants. It gets even worse when you go to NCAA events where they control the tickets and the corporate folks and Stub Hub / Ticketmaster have better seats that the schools actually sending the teams.
