@AGator Vince Dooley was a well known poor-mouther of his own team. He did that against everyone, not just Florida. The main difference was that Dooley did it prior to the game and never degraded another coach, player or program while Spurrier did it before and if they won, a lot afterwards. One is strategy, one is poor sportsmanship. I think you can figure out which is which.

There are a lot of people who make “jokes” that are insulting, and also fall back on the old “I don’t know why folks are so upset” too. Don’t we all do it to a certain extent? It’s also amusing to hear that the “division-wins-only” plan will be “hotly debated” during Media Days when so many – in humor! not insult! – dismissed the proponent of the plan as a “crybaby” and predicted that no one else would ever back the plan. Sic transit mundi.

Georgia coach Vince Dooley made the comment virtually every year before the Gator game that the Dawgs didn’t stand a chance against all that talent on the Gator team yet his Dawgs dominated the Gators. After Dooley retired you’d still hear that comment every year until Spurrier finally made his response.
