Missouri’s Gary Pinkel was widely quoted yesterday as passing along word that he’d been told his school and Arkansas would be partnered up as permanent cross-divisional rivals in the new, 14-school SEC. But apparently that still hasn’t been officially confirmed as of yet:
“Whatever they do, they do, and we’ll adjust. They had aid A&M was going to be our rival game and somehow, somewhere it switched. I had no control over it and asked about it. However it works out, we’ll find the positive side of it.”
Pinkel added that “in a perfect world” the Tigers would keep the Aggies as a yearly rival due to the exposure Mizzou gets from the series in the recruiting-rich state of Texas.
As we noted yesterday, it’s believed South Carolina will be paired with A&M.
