St. Louis had a tradition of hosting the Mizzou - Illinois rivalry game for years. So naturally, they're used to hosting a rivalry game between Missouri and the Big 10. Honestly, I love the idea of a SEC-Big 10 match up in St. Louis... I just wish that the Kansas City Sports Commission would get on the ball and put together a similar proposal to host a Big 12 - SEC Bowl Game of their own. That game would be huge in this market. Unfortunately, the Kansas City Sports Commission hasn't been the same since President Kevin Gray passed away last July. My only hope is that local business owners think of the kind of revenue that could be generated with a large scale bowl game. I could just see it now... Kansas City proudly presents the Gates Barbeque Bowl at Arrowhead Stadium. You Florida folks better bring some long johns and really warm coats if you plan to watch an outdoor game in KC during late December.

St Louis would be a great place for a "kick-off" game like Atlanta's Chick-fa-lay game and the game coming up at Jerry's world in Dallas (Bama vs Michigan this year). The Atlanta game usually is SEC vs ACC. Dallas looks like a good SEC vs Big10 (everybody wants to recruit Texas!). St Louis would work great with the SEC vs Big12. That would leave one more golden opportunity for an SEC vs Pac12 early season neutral site game. Someone put in a call to Denver.

St. Louis has all the pro's of being smack in the middle of three major conferences and none of the cons of playing outdoors in December/January. I could see a lot of interest in an SEC tie in with the Big 12. Year after year the Big 12 seems to be #2 in rank behind the SEC in conference strength so it is only natural that these two leagues play each other more than just in the Cotton Bowl.

If the SEC is pursuing additional bowl tie-ins for the expanded league then a bowl game in St Louis would make plenty of sense. And an annual match-up with the Big Ten there would also make good sense. The Big Ten fans are always crying that all their bowl games being in SEC territory so a closer game for them might be appealing. If I could be king of the college football world for a day I would just switch one of the SEC/Big Ten bowl match-ups to St. Louis and let the Gator Bowl be an SEC/Big East match-up or something like that. An SEC/Big Ten match-up in Florida would probably end up including USF or UCF in the vast majority of years so I don't see that being a bad deal. I do want another game with the Big 12, but I would rather it be in San Antonio or Houston.

Given the recent history, it would seem like an SEC vs. Big 12 matchup would be appropriate. A potential Mizzou / Kansas bowl game would have all kinds of interest in that region.
