Having once been one of those recruits I can say I could have cared less what the uniforms looked like. I just wanted to be part of a winning program.

@deltaboy Like I said below, DGB was actually struggling to decide between Arkansas and Missouri this past spring. Once the highly coveted wide receiver signed with Mizzou, he said that he could see himself playing in those uniforms. He thought they were cool. Now, I’m not saying something like a uniform was the only or main reason why he signed with the Tigers, but it’s obviously something he thought about and spent a moment or two considering. You asked for an example and this is the most recent example I can think of. If you want other examples, please read this article from the STL Today:

What is the evidence that this “matters to recruits”? U of A Recruiting Coordinator Tim Horton was quoted as saying that he had never had a recruit mention uniforms in his entire coaching career. What these uniforms do accomplish is to solidify our status as a second tier program that looks like we don’t belong in the SEC!

@KC Guy @TxRzrbak @JB You beat me to it. I’ve got agree with what you said KC Guy. Over all I think the biggest thing is will this impress recruits? I’m not sure if the whole anti-uniform change stance are just older fans who don’t want any change. But a point I’d also like to point out is that the current Razorback uniforms aren’t the authentic uniforms dating back to the beginning of Razorback football history. So obviously there’s been changes. I can’t say I’m a huge fan of what I’ve seen so far. But I’m also not going to make a big deal over them changing the uniform either. If something like this might actual help sway some possible recruits then I say go for it.

@TxRzrbak 17 @JB TexasEx You may be right. Those schools have a classic sense of tradition. However, uniforms are important when building a program. Texas, Alabama, and Oklahoma aren’t worried about building a program. Schools like Missouri and Arkansas are just trying to replicate the model presented by schools like Oregon, or even Boise State, who’s trademark uniforms and field turf helped give them a unique advantage in recruiting. I hate to say it, but DGB recently said that he could see himself playing in Mizzou’s new uniforms. It was something he considered when picking a school. Sure, theses uniforms might not be classic, but they could become a trademark for a teams success, similarly to the University of Oregon. I’m just saying that comparing the tradition of Alabama or Oklahoma to Mizzou or Arkansas is like comparing apples to oranges. It’s a poor comparison and you probably just need to accept that this is more than likely just the start of even more uniform changes that are sure to come.

I agree with JB Texas. Schools who really respect their tradition don’t go with this crap. See Alabama, Texas and Oklahoma…USC, etc. This is a joke.
