Missouri quarterback Corbin Berkstresser is back with the team and cleared to participate in summer workouts now that he’s being charged with a Class A misdemeanor rather than a felony for leaving the scene of a car accident in May. The decision on formal charges was made last Friday.
Berkstresser took over the quarterbacking duties in Columbia this spring following starter James Franklin’s shoulder surgery. Gary Pinkel has said that Franklin is right on schedule with his recovery. He’s expected by most to be ready for the Tigers’ season-opener this fall.
But it doesn’t hurt to have an insurance policy like Berkstresser off suspension and back with the team just in case.

This assumes that Mauk (rated top 25 high school qbs this year) won't pass them both between now and August. Missouri's excellent qb recruiting just keeps getting better. No wonder they have three in a row in the NFL. Can anyone catch a healthy Franklin?, doubtful. But if he gets the flu or something can Missouri win anyway? probably can.
Some people in Columbia are saying this could have been handled better by the young men involved but that the bigger story is the over-reaction by media and are questioning some public officials handling of the situation. If you damage something, For heaven's sake, put your phone and address on the damaged property so you can't be accused of having no intention of making it right. If you are a coach or player you are going to be under a microscope. This is still being debated, Berkesstrer says he did not leave the scene and therefore even this misdemeanor may not stand up to scrutiny
