@JRsec I hope your analysis is not correct (probably is), but only because I just can't picture ND hanging around Texas and Oklahoma all season. The Irish should play in the snow 9 games a year and once a year in an ice storm. I can take them booking a holiday game or two in California, but that's as far as I can go......

Hmmmmm. Wonder if the SEC can make them a deal. Not as a conference member, but as a special guest for say Alabama, LSU, Florida, Georgia, Arkansas and Auburn once every year. They can play USC, Stanford or whoever else they want, but we get 'em for 5 or 6 games a year and they stay independent. Not going to happen, but a lot of southern ND lovers would buy subscriptions to the SEC network for that. Tongue and cheek obviously.

Notre Dame may have been an academic fit for the ACC, but never a geographical one. FSU was not an academic fit with ND, but Florida was a desired recruiting ground for the Irish and having the Noles in the ACC would be a definite plus for their inclusion. The million dollar question would be that if the two most viewed schools in ACC "football" bolt for another conference will the Irish be deterred is the more precise question to ask. I believe the answer to that question is yes. The Irish will be deterred because Miami and Virginia Tech will be forced to rethink their football futures in the ACC. It's possible that Georgia Tech would as well. I believe in the end that ND will feel forced into accepting conference affilliation. I don't think it will be the Big 10. The Big 10 doesn't have that Southern connection the Irish have been looking for to assist recruiting. And, there are quite a few Catholics in the South that would love a chance to see them play. The Big 12, once it has expanded and proven its durability will be less of an academic fit, but more of a geographical one for Notre Dame. And, if the Big 12 has added Florida, or Georgia, roots at that point, that will help their case in landing the Irish.

If Florida States leaves the ACC, does that make Notre Dame more or less likely to join the ACC? = million dollar question

Why a million? Because Notre Dame joining a conference would surely change the economic landscape and would in all likelihood lead to MASSIVE conference changes. A Big Ten with: Notre Dame, Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, Nebraska (all Top 10 All-Time) could print money to absurd levels. Plus, if Notre Dame joins the Big Ten, Team 14 for the Big Ten is not going to be small time. I'm thinking they get like a Virgina/Maryland or something and then all hell will officially break loose.

If Tier 2 rights become the "new Tier 3" holy cow is Notre Dame valuable. Can you imagine a Notre Dame-Wisconsin game on the Big Ten Network? That would probably make the channel go national or at the very least on expanded basic in the States of New York and New Jersey.
