UF’s “Predators” Talking Big While Coach Preaches Silence

During SEC Media Days, Florida linebacker Lerentee McCray said he and his teammates want to make teams scared to play Florida again.  Yesterday, defensive back Matt Elam took things a step further:

“We’re predators.  We’re looking to knock heads off or making people scare to run across the middle or do a post or run a sideline and see us coming.  We want to be the rude nation.  People come in and we want them to be like, ‘Oh, gosh, we might have a long night in The Swamp.’  Just being rude and making people afraid of us.”

Will Muschamp’s comments from yesterday were slightly different:  “We need to stop talking and start playing.”

Additionally, center Jon Harrison even said: “We kind of saw (smack talk) as a little bit of a problem (last year).  Everybody had kind of talked about just concentrating on football and if somebody (talks smack) we’ll pull them aside and tell them to stop it.”

Someone might want to get Harrison and Muschamp together with Elam.

After last season, would like to see the team wait until they played better than they talked to start talking. Just saying, first SEC game is away against a team whose coaching staff will use that.
