Jerry Palm has gone from basketball RPI guru to football BCS guru the past few years. I eagerly await his computerized rankings of college crew teams.
Well, yesterday, the CBSSports.com numbers man posted his projections for what the BCS standings would be if they were released today. Not surprisingly, the SEC is well represented at the top of the would-be rankings.
First, here’s a look at the Top 10:
Projected BCS Standings as of 9/24/12
1. Alabama
2. Oregon
3. LSU
4. Florida State
5. Stanford
6. Georgia
7. South Carolina
8. Kansas State
9. Notre Dame
10. Florida
Palm goes ahead and ranks the other 114 FBS-level teams, too, so below is a look at where the SEC’s other teams would fall in this week’s BCS standings:
21. Mississippi State (behind Iowa State, ahead of Rutgers)
39. Texas A&M (behind Miami, FL and ahead of Arizona State)
41. Missouri (behind Arizona State — who MU beat head-to-head — and ahead of Tennessee)
42. Tennessee (behind Missouri and ahead of Minnesota)
55. Ole Miss (behind Toledo and ahead of South Florida)
58. Auburn (behind Nevada and ahead of Northern Illinois)
72. Arkansas (behind Connecticut and ahead of Kentucky)
73. Kentucky (behind Arkansas and ahead of Maryland)
78. Vanderbilt (behind Texas State and ahead of Western Michigan)
