Oh, No He Didn’t! Ex-UF Coach Meyer Says His OSU QB Is More Talented Than Tebow

Want to tick off a Florida Gator? Say something that in anyway can be viewed as a slight of St. Tim of Jacksonville. Well, that’s just what ex-Gator and current Ohio State coach Urban Meyer did on a WBNS-FM 97.1 in Columbus yesterday. He said his current Buckeye quarterback — Braxton Miller — has more God-given ability than Tim Tebow:

“Very similar guys. They’re both competitive human beings. They’re both very talented people. Braxton has more talent. Tim is probably more of a grinder.”

Which makes Braxton more of a hoagie. (Sorry, third-grade humor. Couldn’t be helped.)

So Miller has more talent than Tebow? This we’d like to see. When he heals the sick and walks across the mighty Olentangy — a tip of the hat to Keith Jackson — then those of us here at MrSEC.com will be impressed. Not before.

But is Miller a 1% or 1%'er? That's the important question. Because we all know how much character matters to Corch Irvin Meyers...

My "Urban Withdrawl Syndrome" is starting to get worse. Just when I thought I had it under control, Myers opens his mouth. Miller is one heck of an athelete, and may be better suited to lead an NFL team than Tebow, but to say Tebow "is more of a grinder," without also adding; "Tebow's leadership ability was worth his weight in gold, got me a $5 million bonus check when he got us a National Championship while his coach was busy losing control of the team," is not only self serving, it shows a complete lack of respect for what Tebow did for Myers career. Sorry, but this is college ball. Tebow was not "a grinder." Tebow was the glue that held those teams together, the leader the rest of the team willingly followed, and is a bonefide contender for the mantle "greatest college player, ever." Myers is a great coach, but the more I see of him, the more the luster falls from the rose.

@db20207 Well, in full disclosure, Pennington pegged me, I am a Gator and while I think Tebow is a most average NFL player, he was one of the most exciting things to happen to UF football since the "Swamp" was coined.
