I do not think it is a conspiracy as much as media hype and familiarity of traditional games. The Vols and the Gators have been heated by their mutual success in the 90′s that it may be “goodwill” carryover by older sportswriters. It would be interesting if somebody actually did a long term study to see if there was a correlation.

I don’t think so.  If anything, most media members out there seem to dislike ESPN.
 
Very conspiratorial theory, though.  I hadn’t thought of that one.

I’m not one for conspiracies, but is it possible that Tennessee got ranked by the AP simply because they play Florida this week?  I’m not talking about a big conspiracy but could the ESPN AP voters have tipped the scales to break Tennessee into the Top 25?
