Anything for a buck, right? Perhaps that’s what Missouri officials were thinking when they printed and put up for sale t-shirts commemorating the Tigers’ big weekend win over… 1-8 Kentucky.
Now, if the shirt said something about the school’s first-ever SEC victory, then we would be a bit more forgiving. After all, regardless of who such a win comes against, you only get one “first.” But the shirt doesn’t appear to mention that point at all. It simply gives the date, location and score from when Mizzou “CAGED THE CATS.”
In the SEC, most schools don’t sell t-shirts for wins over Kentucky unless said win comes in the sport of basketball. In that case, t-shirts are okey-dokey. Just a friendly tip to MU officials who’re selling the shirt at the school’s online store. If you’re tired of the suggestion that Missouri will be a Kentucky-like football program in the big, bad SEC then you really shouldn’t feed that notion with graphic proof on fabric.
Are they gonna make a T-shirt after they beat Auburn in Basketball? SEC rule #1 only celebrate beating Kentucky in Basketball, Celebrating beating them in Football is Pathetic and I'm a Vandy fan. Of course we are the only team to beat them in Basketball. Could be worse You could be UT and lose to them in everything.
Didn't Georgia print shirts after their victory at Faurot Field ealrier? As a Mizzou fan it's embarrassing, but I don't think it's a big deal.
eh. They print t-shirts for everything just as YLH says. It's the digital age and it can be done in a jiffy. Non-story here.
The shirts are an embarrassment to most of us. Not the first time the AD has done something stupid in the name of dollars. Somehow I don't think this is unique to us.
Can players/coaches/officials/etc away from the field please stay out of the media for a whole week??? I was so excited for this year and losing a few games is one thing, but I cringe at the sight of another article in regards to comments made or now a T-Shirt... Please, I'm begging you. Its embarassing. Move on to the next week, get better, win some games, and prepare for a better year next year. Basketball is coming up and we are looking good. Prove that you belong in your new conference on the field/court. I'm tired of hearing these guys and I've been a Mizzou fan every day of my life.

I attended Mizzou in the mid to late 80's and I assure you, we print up tee shirts for EVERYTHING. This is nothing new. This year alone, the Missouri Bookstore sold tee shirts commemorating the inaugural visit of every SEC team, incorporating the visiting team's letter-mark into a hokey slogan like "Glad to meet you" (UGA), "Very nice to meet you" (Vandy), "Always a pleasure" (Bama) and "Kickin' it at Faurot Field" (UK). This is in addition to an ever-changing variety of tees commemorating the team's first season in the SEC, the new helmet design, and the annual "Gold Rush" and "Blackout" games. I'm pretty sure that my alma mater is keeping thousands of Singaporean children gainfully employed in tee shirt mills and silk-screening plants.
