And I apologize for all the grammatical errors, deformed sentence structures and ambiguity… but I really think this would be interesting this Coach would be a win in any of these institutions!

I don’t know if anyone would agree w/ me… I’m a Bama man… but if I were Auburn or Tennessee–I would try to get Mike Leach out of the Pac-12 and back in the South. Why? Ugh… did you not see what he did at Texas Tech? He had to compete Texas, Oklahoma, A&M, and Nebraska for quality players–and would be able to compete with all of ‘em! Still doubt him? Mike Leach under Bob Stoops was amazing. Mike Leach coached Kliff Kingsbury. And I am more than sure that Mike Leach had some effect on how Coach Sumlin’s sees how offense is evolving. Imagine what this man could do w/ the proud history with these two institutions (Tennessee and Auburn)! Geez… it would be fascinating! MIKE LEACH FOR COACH AT THESE SCHOOLS WOULD BE IMPRESSIVE! Plus think about him–he would get away from that cold-rainy weather of the Northwest… he would enjoy the warm weather of the South. Be in a great conference that is THE SEC! Recruiting would be a lot better for him. It’s a win-win! Plus with the records that Tennessee and Auburn have–anything would be better at this point! Might as well give it a chance.

And before someone throws in “He abuses players”… This was never proved in a court of law… and I guarantee you that if it ever was true that he ‘abused’ the players he would have been sued. That, and probably would have never coached again.

It’ll be less absurd if Rex gets the ax in New York. Again, we say 1 on a scale of 1-10, but Ryan’s more likely than Cowher. How that one started I have no idea.

And for the record, as of earlier this year Buddy was still on his horse farm in Kentucky and battling cancer of the lymph nodes.

BTW, I’m a little late but congrats to A&M on a heck of a game and a well deserved win. A special shout out to the Aggie fans I met in T-town, some really great people. I hope to see all of you next year in College Station, hopefully we can return the favor! Good luck the rest of the season & RTR.

Everyone wants to know ahead of time what’s going to happen and everyone wants to appear to have the inside scoop. That’s a bad combination. In reality, even when schools are inches away from landing someone, negotiations can break down. I’ve got sources in the business of representing coaches who said for weeks that Arkansas AD Jeff Long is all over Gary Patterson and vice versa. I believe that to be true. But I wouldn’t be shocked if Long announced the Payton/Clause/Fairy staff tomorrow. In the end, there are usually VERY few people at a school who really know what’s going on and they usually do a good job of keeping big things like coaching hires quiet right up until the final day or so.

I love your coverage of these rumors. As a Hog fan, I can tell you I am both bored with this season and interested in even the far-flung rumors. But your justified cynicism is really appreciated and I like that you tend to find the whole thing almost funny… which we all should. My short list for the Hogs is Sean Payton as head coach. Santa Clause could be the OC with his air attack giving Saban fits, while the Tooth Fairy could run a pretty stingy defense. I am holding my breath! Thanks for your work.

My question about Gruden is why is he so sought after from a college level? He hasn’t been involved in recruiting since the 80s. He also was fired from his last job and won a Super Bowl the year after he took over from Dungy with a lot of the players that Dungy had brought in. I can understand it is intriguing but it isn’t a guarantee that he’ll win in the SEC even if he accepted a job.
