Langley Switches Commitment To UGA

Marietta (Ga.) Kell defensive back Brendan Langley has switched his commitment from South Carolina to Georgia.

“It was for a multitude of reasons,” Langley told ESPN RecruitingNation. “One of the biggest ones was having a chance to play multiple sports. I do not really feel South Carolina was interested in that, while coach (Mark) Fox talks to me on a weekly basis. I just felt more comfortable at Georgia.”

Langley joins teammate Quincy Mauger, who committed to the Bulldogs in July.

Langley, who’s considered the nation’s No. 23 cornerback by ESPN, is Georgia’s 28th commitment for the class of 2013. The Bulldogs are expected to bring in more than 30 prospects in the 2013 class.

He was never coming here to USC...he was just making sure he had a spot in case he couldn't get the attention he wanted from where he really wanted to go...once UGA started showing him some attention and in particular once Mark Fox started showing him some attention...he was as good as gone to Athens which is where he wanted to be all along.

As the other poster said, Frank Martin has more things to be concerned with right now than kissing the ass of a football recruit who wants to moonlight as a basketball player.

Flip flop. He will de-commit and commit again (maybe multiple times) before this is all over. I bet that South Carolina coaches and recruiters probably knew Langley wasn't solid when he committed. Plus, doesn't South Carolina have a two-sport (football/basketball) athlete in Bruce Ellington? So, to say that Carolina isn't interested? Weak excuse. Coach Martin has better things to do besides call a potential football recruit on a weekly basis.. like try and get his feet on the ground and rebuild the Gamecock

basketball program.

@kitbaty At this point in the game, I doubt he'll de-commit again but you're right that his original commitment to SC probably wasn't that solid. He listed Georgia and Bama all along as his co-leaders and then inexplicably selected Carolina for reasons that were never clarified.

@GeoffDawg You are probably right. For some reason, I thought he had de-committed from somewhere else when he committed to South Carolina. But I was incorrect. Hell, I wish him luck in his college career - as long as it doesn't come against the Gamecocks. :)
