John, I like this site and have been increasing my visits (mostly due to the number of coaching changes and this is a central place to find info on all of them). I don’t know why people are whining about bias, I’m born and raised in Lexington and have two degree’s from UK and I can’t tell if you’re a UK fan or UF fan or LSU fan ect. I would ignore those whining, it’s just mindless to argue with people like that.

In fact, I think it would be even more interesting if there was more bias, maybe a few different writers with different views battling back and forth…

Ha! Objective journalism. You’re a different flavor of the Finebaum/Clay Travis model. It drives traffic. You’re still around – a testament to the effectiveness. You grew up in Middlesboro. What’s next? A sportswriter from Brazil claiming to have no rooting interest in the World Cup? Meh. People vastly overrate their own objectivity. You like Calipari. We all get that. It’s not a sin. No need to write 5+ paragraphs trying to prove otherwise.

If you recall, I also got ripped pretty good for writing in 2010 that as long as there was no evidence found regarding payments to Cam Newton… no one could legitimately call him dirty. I don’t convict people without evidence. Alabama fans took that to mean I was pro-Auburn. The fact that I still refer to the Newton scandal from time to time tells Auburn folks that I’m pro-Bama just for reminding people of it.

Same with Calipari. Every single time I mention his reputation or make a comment about folks viewing him as the Prince of Darkness, Kentucky fans rant that I’m a UK-hater and a Tennessee homer. You take my mention of the fact — that’s fact, mind you — that he’s never been named by the NCAA as being guilty of anything to mean I’m pro-Calipari.

In reality, I just write about Calipari. I write lots of nice things about people I don’t like… if I feel it’s true and praise is deserved. I also write lots of not-so-nice things about people I do like… if I feel the criticism is warranted. Like or dislike hasn’t got anything to do with it. Alas, there’s what I write… and there’s what you want to see when you read it.

I’ve made no bones about the fact that I grew up in Middlesboro on the Kentucky/Tennessee line. I’ve also lived in North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, etc. So do I have some blue, light blue, scarlet and orange in me, too?

I write what I think. And I could give two hoots about who wins or loses in the SEC. My rooting interests are at the pro level, not the collegiate level. But I believe there are some people out there who want objective coverage of college spots — not many, but a few — and that’s why this site was started. That’s also why I’ve been accused of both loving AND hating every single school in the SEC at one time or another.

Also, if you could point out something I’ve written where I’ve “shaken my fist violently” I’d love to see it. Since you can’t actually see me shaking my fist while I’m writing, I think you just proved my point — there’s what I write… and there’s what you want to see when you read it.

Anyone who intently stumps over the piety of John Calipari and shakes his fist violently at the lack of iron clad evidence (or smoke…or the public outside of the commonwealth’s general disdain for him) has to have a bit of big blue in them. C’mon John. Did you grow up in Kentucky? Spend part of your life there? Calipari isn’t defendable in the least if he’s not brokering…errr. coaching your team. You’re like the Dick Vitale of SEC Country.

Sounds very similar to the wheel i have also…has 20 coaching names from Gruden to Pedersen and everyone inbetween, i spin it each morning that way i know who my new coach is on a daily basis….

Best part of this job? Tennessee fans saying I’m a Kentucky fan while Kentucky fans claim I’m a Tennessee fan. Alabama fans claiming I’m an Auburn fan while Auburn fans claim I’m an Alabama fan. Ole Miss fans claiming I’m an MSU fan while MSU fans claim… well, you get the picture.
