You’re right, I am looking at this post in isolation. And sure, you probably had more than enough. That being said – and I’m not a Vandy fan – I didn’t see a whole lot in this post to prompt that kind of response. In fact, it’s somewhat (somewhat) of a fair point – saying a teams schedule is weak often implies they are cooking it to their advantage. On any other year many of these teams would be top 25.
But, and to make sure I don’t want to come off as one of those retentive arses, I see your point about people accusing you of bias. I’ve never thought it, and it makes me laugh we I hear those over protective one eyed supporters. But I’v never got that life or death attitude to football anyway. Win or lose, tailgating is still the best part or the game.
I do enjoy your site. Please keep it up.

You’re commenting on a response I sent to someone who has posted ridiculous falsehoods about this site and some imaginary “anti-Vanderbilt” bias for a long, long time. That hits right at the credibility of this site, it’s unfair, and it can do damage to our business… when all we do here is try to provide people with free information and objective opinions.

So I reserve the right — on a night when I’ve worked on the site from 8am to 8pm — to remove one serial thorn from my side.

Sorry if you took offense to that or I didn’t word my response kindly. Obviously, I was mad. I’ve held my tongue for a month now and just let all kinds of nonsense fly all over these comment boxes in an attempt to be Mr. Nice Guy. This post from this particular person drew a response.

For the record, I don’t mind passion for a team… except when someone’s passion goes so far overboard that it leads him or her to post on an almost daily basis that this site is pro- or con- one particular team. That’s hooey and if you were in my shoes, I guarantee you you’d get awfully sick of that, too.

This had NOTHING to do with Arkansas. It stated that Nutt chased the Ole Miss job, not the other way around. You couldn’t have ignored what was written or missed the point anymore if you’d tried.

I’m very tired of your sniveling, whining, weeping, crying posts on this site. I wrote a positive blurb about James Franklin above and you still managed to seek out something — anything! — that you could perceive as being somehow anti-Vanderbilt.

But here’s how I can say Vandy’s schedule is weak:

A win over Presbyterian — the smallest school in the FCS
A win over Missouri — 5-5 overall, 2-5 in the SEC
A win over Auburn — 2-8 overall, 0-7 in the SEC
A win over UMass — 1-9 in the school’s first year in the FBS
A win over Kentucky — 1-9 overall, 0-7 in the SEC
A win over Ole Miss — 5-5 overall, 2-4 in the SEC

Add that slop up and Vanderbilt’s six wins have come against five FBS teams with a combined mark of 14-36 and an SEC record of 4-23… plus one win over a teeny-tiny FCS school. Oh, and next up they’ll play 4-6 Tennessee with it’s 0-6 SEC record. I’m guessing most people would agree with me that that’s a pretty weak schedule.

Yea, let’s just pretend that Nutt wasn’t going to get fired at Arkansas and left on his own accord. And that Arkansas didn’t offer him $6M in severance pay to get him to leave peacefully. After all, schools often give their departing head coach several million dollars, right?

I don’t see how you can say Vandy’s Schedule was weak? They played the conference schedule the SEC gave them. Northwestern is better than 95% of the rest of the SEC non-conference games.

Your right the only reason I see Franklin interview at TN is to use it against them in recruiting. UT would be foolish to go after him as I think VU would open up the multi-million dollar trust fund to prevent him from going there.

Florida has played 4 top 10 teams but so has Missouri and they’ll play a 5th next week at aTm.
Missouri has played Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina already.
