just a thought: if strong doesn’t work, it may be petrino by default. its a win-win situation. he can be had for peanuts, he wouldn’t dare screw it up, and best of all, he’s the best damned pure coach in football.

I may be completely wrong in the end, but it’s really hard for me to believe a sought-after coach would end up picking Louisville over Tennessee; the history, the recruiting, the conference, the fanbase, etc etc etc all favor the Vols. The last 2-3 years favor Louisville, but the long-term future shines much brighter on the historical powerhouse that is Tennessee… as someone said last week, going from the Big East to the ACC is going from “a dead conference to a dying conference”. That may be overdramatic, but there is truth in it.

I think it will be mighty interesting, because from what I understand Strong just convinced a highly ranked kid from Mississippi to come to Louisville almost solely based on the promise that he’ll be there.
