I was highly critical of the move yesterday. Still think there were better attainable options. That said I was impressed with Coach Jones today in the presser. Willing to bite tongue for now.

Jones inherited an undefeated team from Kelly, while Strong took over for a coach that could not win or recruit and was fired. Strong rebuilt a program while Jones at best kept a program at a certain level. It is not always how high you are, but sometimes how far you have come.

Who knows what will happen five years from now. Right now, Jones has a better coaching record. Jones even was named Big East coach oy the year over Strong. Besides, Strong turned us down. What more can I say? If he accepts the job, lets give him a chance.

Love how people just look at an isolated record without any perspective.

Five years from now Strong will have Louisville as one of the top teams in the ACC and Butch Jones will just be another ex head Coach at UT that failed miserably.

Strong’s record as head coach is 24 wins and 15 loses. Butch Jones record as head coach is 50 wins 27 loses. I am counting head coaching records only. He was also named coach of the year in the big east this year.

I think I would go take my chances with Kirby Smart, before Butch Jones. I thought Larry Fedora would come to UT, but he turned down Tennessee (sorry about the bad twitter joke) earlier. I think if you hire Kirby Smart, you can work on that D. And lets face it, that’s where the Vols need to get better.

What a disastrous hire if true. Only thing Butch Jones has proven is that he’s a worse Coach than the just departed Dooley.

Only question to play out over the next two – three seasons with this atrocity is whether we can remain ahead of Missouri and Kentucky in a battle to stay out of the SEC East Cellar.

This impending hire assures Us here in Orange Nation that Georgia, Florida South Carolina and Vandy will remain out of reach as long as all current Coaches remain at their respective institutions.

Tennessee had one of the two worst Coaches in the Conference when Dooley left and now after 19 days being made the punchline of a National Joke we still have one of the two worst Coaches in the SEC.

Nice effin Job Dave Hart.
