Strong Still Mulling UT, Louisville Offers… Or Is He?

According to VolQuest.com — the Rivals site covering Tennessee — UT athletic director Dave Hart flew to Louisville to meet with Charlie Strong, but he did not return to Knoxville with him.

Meanwhile, WKRN-TV in Nashville is reporting that Hart flew to Louisville to pick Strong up and bring him back as the Vols’ new coach.

Finally, long time Louisville sports media member Eric Crawford tweeted the following:

Meanwhile, Jimmy Hyams of WNML-AM/FM in Knoxville reports that two sources have told him Strong has turned down the Tennessee job:

UPDATE: Citing a Louisville source, Sports Illustrated’s Pete Thamel says Strong has turned down Vols contract offer.

wow. So now it's offical that Stong turned down UT. Per Finebaum and others, this is the list that has turned down UT: Gundy, Gruden, Strong, Golden, and Kirby Smart.

I can't believe I am typing this but if Strong turns us down, I think it may be time to sell our soulsl to the Devil and hire Petrino. Or maybe, we sold out soul earlier and we are now in ineternal football hell. I was not opposed to replacing Fulmer but the "Upper Level Medioctity" everyone was bitchin' about during his rein is looking mighty good about now.

I would hire Phil for five years,bring in Peyton at year three & groom him to be head coach by year six!

Hart is backed in a corner now. It is strong or bust. If Strong turns us down, do we "settle" for Fedora. Or does Hart employ the dumptruck method and wait to see what happens in the NFL? Would the UT fans wait?
