Fawning about the attractiveness of a woman you don’t know, who didn’t intentionally put herself in any spotlight except by existing at her boyfriend’s football game, is creepy. It reflects the attitude that women’s bodies are permanently on display for male comment and enjoyment, which is a consequence of the patriarchy. However, you are correct that Musberger isn’t at all outside of the mainstream.

1. I knew everyone and their brother would write game stories and sidebars today.

2. Being an SEC site, I decided last week that my “day after” story would instead be about the SEC’s streak. Either a victory column — reminding people of Forde and Doyel writing silliness — or a defeat column — reminding people of the SEC’s advantages as a means to calm fears that the dynasty was over.

3. Our Tuesday story will be a piece on Saban’s place in SEC history and it’s taken all day to crunch those numbers.

John, how come no post today on the actual BCS national championship game? No post on Saban and his fourth national championship? No post on where this national championship now puts Bama in history? But this is a very interesting post on Brent Musberger.

ironic that they were quicker to apologize for musberger, even though he did nothing wrong, than rob parker after his racist rant on RGIII. there’s plenty of other things espn should apologize for that they don’t. this wasn’t one of them.

I agree 100%. I thought his comments were fine and good natured — the ad lib about picking up a football and tossing it with Dad was cleaver. Just remember the old song — “You gotta be a fotball hero”. Perhaps that will be tomorrows iPod song?
