Notre Dame gets manhandled by Alabama in the NCS & only drops to 3/4, yet Georgia barely loses to Alabama & gets dropped out of the BCS?

Hard to know which poll to believe – the coach’s poll (which we all know they DON’T see EVERY game) or the AP Poll (which bumped everybody but Florida (?)) down in rankings.. Ohio State & Michigan are in the AP (3 & 24), but nowhere on the Coach’s.

Congratulations to all the Alabama fans on a great win. Also to the other SEC top 25 teams. Going 6 and 3 in bowls was a little disappointing, but nine teams means tha 2 more SEC teams outside the top 25 made it. It wasn’t a good year to be a Razorback fan, but was another great year to be an SEC fan.

Absolute beatdown last night. And yes, whoever was the opponent probably wouldn’t have mattered. Might have dressed up the pig a little better though. Everyone talks about oversigning and the SEC. I thought I’d look into the last 7 SEC teams that have won the BCS. Starting w/ Florida and count how many players they signed for the 4 classes that made up that year’s title team vs. the team they played in the championship game.

The results are not all that surprising….

Laying this out isn’t to make excuses for other conferences losses or delegitimize this SEC run. Only to lay out the facts in helping to PARTIALLY explain said run. The benefits of oversigning have been discussed ad nauseum, but to see the actual disparity between the championship teams over this period is pretty stark IMO.

Note: The above numbers came from Scout’s final team recruiting rankings.

@mb6783 No disrespect to Clowney’s achievements but Jones’ stats were a little better. We can also argue all day long about who was the nation’s best defensive player this season but in lieu of that, can we just agree that Teo is vastly overrated?

One other thought, I’d like to make a formal request that Teo transfer all that defensive award hardware to its rightful owner, Jarvis Jones. He looked like a boy among men going up against Bama’s blockers.

Both Georgia and A&M should be ranked higher than ND.

Local and regional media are the last to recognize that Vanderbilt has improved ten fold. Old perceptions are hard to change.

Oh well. Georgia would’ve clearly handled them last night if they had the opportunity. Bama however made the play they needed to so they earned the right pummel the Irish. Let’s just all agree that we don’t need the BCS or a playoff moving forward. The SEC winner is the national champ by default.
Also, in retrospect, ND’s schedule did them no favors in preparing them to face a rugged, battle-tested Alabama squad. If they thought that joining the ACC part time is going to enhance their chances of national achievement, they just got a major reality check.

It would seem to me that this means Alabama starts next year at #1 and both Georgia and Texas A&M will be ranked in the top 5. If so, this will be another strong SEC start. I see Oregon, Stanford, and Ohio State making a run towards the top too.

Congrats to Bama and evil genious Nick Saban. I’m not a Bama fan by any means (don’t dislike them either)… but it was awesome to watch them beat down over-hyped ND and watch the “fan fail” in the eyes of all of their snooty fans.
