@alamoaggie08 Funny, I never rooted for Texas or OK or K-State in bowl games when we were in the BigXII (Missouri fan), but I was definitely rooting for the conference and Alabama throughout the bowls. And for the reasons you mentioned. Texas ruins everything they touch. They want to stand on a step ladder and then claim they’re the tallest man in the room. I hope they choke on the LHN.

I’m a Dawf fan and I can’t tell you how much I wanted Georgia to be playing instead of Bama, but I would NEVER root for a NON-SEC team to beat a SEC team NEVER, NEVER, Never. I would even be a Gator fan for that night if Florida made it to the BCS game. If Bama keeps winning it’s our fault for not beating them and if we can’t (SEC-teams) I darn sure don’t want a yankee team to do it. SEC SEC SEC!

I used to pull for Alabama until I got XM and started listening to Paul Finebaum. I don’t think I can ever root for Alabama again. Most paranoid fanbase in all of sports.

ND could not have beaten Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, LSU or Vandy last night. Whether we root for the SEC or not, the guy who’s out of luck is the guy just rooting for a good football game when two teams play for the national championship. Fewer than 50% of the BCS championship games have been decided by under ten points.

As a Gator fan who watched Tebow & Co.’s dreams of 3-out-of-4 BCS titles crushed by the Tide, I have to admit I was rooting against Bama successfully doing that. It was close, though — I wanted Alabama to lose by one point. The thought was that since ND isn’t a member of any conference, it’s not as if the glory would go to a conference other than the SEC anyway. If it had been a team in any other conference I would have been rooting for Alabama. My two-year-older sister and her husband hate LSU more than Alabama but I’m the opposite way: somewhat positive attitude towards LSU but bitter hatred for the Tide. As for me, no, I don’t think I’ll ever be over Macho Grande. (Yes, that’s my nickname for the 2009 SEC Championship Game.)

I frankly don’t hate the Tide as much as I did prior to this season, though. I think Muschamp has us going in the right direction. Prior to our respective bowl games, it sure seemed as if Florida were on par with Alabama. I see the Sugar Bowl as a fluke, just like Alabama’s 2009 Sugar Bowl.

I’m a hog fan and we were sitting around watching the game saying “We could have done this bad” well or Mississippi State, Ha!

Aggies should be #2 in the AP…they looked very good against OU. They would have killed ND too.

I was definitely pulling for Bama. It doesn’t hurt that I have an ingrained anti-ND sentiment as well but that speaks more to the perception that the national media doesn’t give Southern schools enough credit while giving Midwestern/Northern schools, like ND, way too much, year after year. It could’ve been Florida vs. Oklahoma and I still would’ve rooted on the SEC team.

Agreed. I hate em’ when we play ‘em, but when any SEC team plays a non-conference game, I pull for the SEC team. Even Bama, Florida and (gasp) Vandy.

I personally think nearly half of the SEC is better than ND. They even didn’t look like a Top 10 team. Just like A&M (there’s your reference) was basically two plays away from being undefeated, ND was two plays away from being 10-2 (botched ref call vs. Standford, botched chip-shot FG by Pitt). Was I rooting for Alabama? Of course! No, not because it makes A&M look better. It’s because I root for those who represent my conference, specifically the ones who welcomed my team with open arms and respect, something I never saw from the Big 12.

See you Sept. 14, Bama! Until then, SEC all the way!

I’m a Bama fan so I cannot voice my opinion regarding last night’s title game. That being said, in 2010 when Auburn and Cam Newton were playing for the title I was in fact rooting for the Tigers. I may not like them, but the simple fact is they are brothers 357 days a year as long as they are not playing against another SEC squad (356 if they make it to the SEC title game).
