wasn’t intended to be funny but it is true that Vandy athletes take classes that are remedial at best at Peabody which flies in the face of their so-called “academic” reputation.

Go check the standings of “your” school in the U.S. News and World Report. See where Peabody ranks on the list of best Education and Human Development programs in the country. Maybe you could return to “your” school in a meaningful capacity. I’m sure they could use you as a lab rat in a Human Development class.

I’m glad to know it was all in fun. Kinda makes one wonder why he had to call to apologize, though.

I wonder if I could refer to Coach Franklin as “Chrome Dome” on this site and tell anyone complaining that they have no sense of humor? Probably not.

Franklin’s mouth once again led him someplace he shouldn’t have gone. Admit it, move on. No one called for his imprisonment, but that was a silly thing to say. Heck, he wasn’t even saying it to a Vandy booster club… he was saying it at a high school banquet in Georgia. Dumb decision. End of story. (Until the next time he pipes up and says something goofy.)

We may not be as numerous as other fanbases, but I can assure you we are just as passionate. Plus we tend to have a better grasp of subject-verb agreement.

Ehh, no. I guess telling you that Vanderbilt fans are embarrassed, too, wouldn’t make your writing any easier. I think this group of people – the smallest of all SEC fanbases and used to sucking in perpetuam – are a little different. Maybe that’s self-exceptionalism (the good ol’ Lake Wobegon effect)… but I think it’s certainly true we have fewer crazies than most groups. We at least try to be rational!

The dude sticks his foot in his mouth – it’s embarassing. But if he gives us nine wins while doing it… whatever. He’s apologized, as he should have. He’ll take his lashes, we’ll take ours, and then something else shiny will grab our attention. At least he didn’t comment on the attractiveness of Mrs. Saban.

Coach Franklin needs to go to charm school, tonight. Or perhaps read (re-read?) “How to Win Friends and Influence Enemies”. I think we all understand that high school level humor often and necessarily relies on ’pie in the face’ stunts, but really, at a talk in the gym? The smirking kids will forget the comment within a week, but parents, administrators and the entire Crimson Tide nation will remember when it counts.
