Looking at Wednesday’s signees — including junior college and prep school athletes — here’s a snapshot of the talent produced by the state of Texas in 2013 (as graded by Rivals.com):
5-stars = 2
4-stars = 43
3- stars = 168
Total 3+ stars = 213
Here’s where the state’s 10 highest-ranked players are headed:
Texas = 3
Texas A&M = 2
Alabama = 1
Baylor = 1
Ohio State = 1
Oklahoma = 1
Failed To Qualify Academically = 1
Loyalty: The Lone Star State will be a fascinating battleground to watch over the next few seasons. Of the state’s top 10 players, six chose to stay near home (including two heading to Texas A&M). Overall, three players decided to ink with SEC schools. You can bet schools like Texas and Oklahoma will be hoping that SEC number doesn’t grow any larger in future years.
