Florida showed LSU and the rest of the SEC why they were conference champs and one of the most talented teams in the country. Jumping out to a 15-point lead at halftime, the Gators extended the lead in the second half, winning 80-58 this afternoon in Nashville. That’s the largest margin of victory in the tournament so far.
Erik Murphy led Florida with a career-high 27 points and 12 rebounds. Scottie Wilkebin added 16 points.
For LSU Charles Carmouche led the Tigers with 14 points
- Florida shot 51% from the floor (29-56) while LSU hit just 33% of their shots (18-54).
- The Gators dominated the boards – outrebounding LSU 42 to 26.
- LSU did win the turnover battle. Tigers committed 10 turnovers while Florida had 16.
Florida advances to play tomorrow afternoon against the winner of the Tennessee-Alabama game. Billy Donovan is 5-0 against Anthony Grant but 0-3 against Cuonzo Martin.
