No Surprise: NCAA Suspends Two Controversial Recruiting Changes

mrsec-breaking-newsAs expected, the NCAA has backtracked on two changes to its rule book that would have so deregulated recruiting in all sports that many coaches, athletic directors, schools, and conferences rose up against the proposals.

It’s still possible that the rules will come to pass in another form, but they will definitely have “appropriate modifications” before they become the law of the college sports land.

The proposed rule changes that are — as of now — officially suspended:

* A proposal that would have allowed non-coaches to recruit

* A proposal that would have removed restrictions on what kind and how much printed material could be sent to recruits
