Come on Mr. SEC...you beat up Miles for Jeremy Hill...DUI and a one game suspension? And all you have to say is well he's got A&M so its ok...WOW
And if you go back and check this site, you'll see that I "beat up" Saban for not immediately cutting four ex-Tide players who beat and robbed two fellow students.
College kids get DUIs. They get picked up for public drunkeness. That doesn't make it right, but it is a fact.
Violent crimes -- when someone intentionally beats another human being -- is a different level of crime in my book. I'm not saying DUIs can't kill, but there is no intent to kill. You can draw your lines wherever you like, but that's where I draw mine. Intent matters.
In my view, no school should have as a representative some player who is guilty of assault and battery. Especially not if that person -- in Hill's case -- is already on probation for another crime when he decides to beat someone.
I criticized Saban for not immediately dumping four players from his roster in February. I criticized Miles for not booting Hill and for -- ridiculously -- putting it up to a team vote.
You can try to claim there are inconsistencies there, but there are none. In fact, it's the model of consistency.
Violent crimes carry more weight with me. DUIs are dangerous and stupid, but they are common and they are not done with intent. Big difference in my view.
