This year, the Tigers are off to a flying 5-0 start and just hung 50+ on Vanderbilt in their SEC opener. Gary Pinkel — the temperature of his seat cooling — thinks last year’s struggles might have created a stronger bond between the members of this year’s team:
“There’s a chemistry and a determination, a combination of both, with this team. And leadership. It’s the ‘circle the wagons,’ ‘we had a tough year last year,’ ‘we want to win and we’re willing to pay the price’ type thing. I just kind of felt that, that these guys had that in there. They’ve taken this real personal.”
Mizzou will need that chemistry. Over the next three weeks they’ll face the top three teams in the East Division: Georgia in Athens and then Florida and South Carolina at home. A win in any of those three contests will make the Tigers bowl eligible, something they were not a season ago.
