South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier was named SEC Coach of the Year, and tailback Marcus Lattimore was named SEC Freshman of the Year by the league’s coaches, the SEC office announced Wednesday.

CBSSports.com Names Marcus Lattimore Freshman Of The Year

South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore was unanimously selected as CBSSports.com Freshman of the Year, it was announced on Tuesday. This is Lattimore’s second award in as many days, as the Associated Press unanimously chose him on Monday as SEC Freshman of the Year as well.

Six Gamecocks Named To Coaches’ All-SEC Team

Six members of the South Carolina football tem earned All-SEC honors by the coaches, it was announced Tuesday by the conference office. Freshman running back Marcus Lattimore, sophomore wide receiver Alshon Jeffery and sophomore cornerback Stephon Gilmore earned first-team honors with senior offensive lineman Garrett Chisolm, senior defensive end Cliff Matthews and sophomore defensive end Devin Taylor second-team selections.

Gamecocks to Face FSU in Chick-fil-A Bowl

The University of South Carolina has accepted an invitation to appear in the 2010 Chick-fil-A Bowl, it was announced today. The Gamecocks (9-4) will face the Florida State Seminoles (9-4), out of the Atlantic Coast Conference at 7:30 p.m. ET on December 31, 2010, in the Georgia Dome. The game will be televised by ESPN, running unopposed in its prime time slot.
