I really getting sick of this officiating thing….everyone that complains only wants to bring up the calls missed for their team….never an overall view of the situation.  There also seems to be a prevailing assumption that the league has no continuity program for grading officials and identifying the ones that need to be replaced….which they constantly do.  They have a pretty high standard and to think an official makes a bad call and is not graded on that call is just stupid.  However, I think it may be time to review and study the situation to determine if more officials are needed.  The reality is that teams are now running the spread with players all over the field, the players are faster than ever before, and they are bigger than ever before.  The ability to physically follow the game as an official is certainly being challenged because of these changes.  However, at the end of the day, it's still probably going to be calls missed and people unhappy.  People's passion for their team, and media's desire to find controversy will forever be a challenge to the officiating crews.
