ALABAMA FOOTBALL NEWS – 11/7/08

Here are the top stories from Tuscaloosa this Friday:

Despite all the hype about Nick Saban’s return to Baton Rouge, this weekend’s battle with LSU boils down to a West Division champoinship game.

LSU’s Kirston Pittman, who was recruited to the Tigers by Saban, will be key to stopping Bama’s running game.  Unlike most LSU folks, Pittman has good things to say about Saban.

The rest of Louisiana has been waiting for tomorrow’s game since their old coach returned to the conference last season.  But for Saban, the good memories of his stint on the Bayou far outweigh the bad.

Turns out, there will be no extra security for Saban tomorrow… but LSU’s campus police will be more vigilant.

For every Alabama coach since 1983 (except Gene Stallings), the legend of Bear Bryant and the heft of Bama’s rich history has proven too much to… bear.  Not so for Saban.

Paul Gattis of The Huntsville Times wonders where the swagger on LSU’s defense has gone this season?

Saban has been happy with his team’s focus and preparation this week.

The Tide has been busy trying to get ready for freshman LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson, who will be Jarrett Lee’s backup due to an injury to Andrew Hatch.
