Arkansas Headlines – 10/20/09

1.  Folks in Arkansas are hot about the officiating in Saturday’s loss to Florida.  Bobby Petrino said SEC director of officials Rogers Redding didn’t give him “anything that satisfied” him by way of an explanation.

2.  This writer believes it’s time for the Razorbacks to put what happened in Gainesville in the rear-view mirror and start looking ahead to Ole Miss.

3.  Ryan Mallett wants folks to put the blame for Saturday’s loss on his shoulders.  And he’s showing leadership by doing so.

4.  According to this notes column, it appears that kicker Alex Tejada’s job is safe despite two missed field goals in the close loss to the Gators.

5.  Folks in both programs are saying that the focus this week should be on the game, not on the “Arkansas Vs. Houston Nutt” angle.  Last year’s 23-21 Ole Miss win in Fayetteville was the one that mattered most on that front.  Gradually this will become less and less of a story.

6.  Petrino said tailback Michael Smith’s hamstring injury is improving.
