Here are the headlines from The Plains today, starting with the latest on Tommy Tuberville’s situation:
The Birmingham News editorializes that Tuberville deserves an 11th season at Auburn. We completely agree.
Tuberville met with athletic director Jay Jacobs and president Jay Gogue yesterday. It was their annual state-of-the-program meeting. A statement from AU said the following:
“Further conversations between Jay Jacobs and Coach Tuberville will take place in the following days to discus Coach Tuberville’s plan to make improvements for the program moving forward under his leadership.”
What do you take from that? Are things still up in the air? Or does this mean he’s definitely staying?
In terms of what Tuberville will do if he stays, job one will be hiring an offensive coordinator and then, probably, giving him the power to assemble his own offensive staff.
Finally, Paul Finebaum of The Mobile Press-Register believes that Tuberville will be back, but he doesn’t seem to think he should be. In fact, he says “(Auburn’s) program is a train wreck that nothing short of a government bailout could probably save.”
