Calipari Should Study Saban When It Comes To Blocking Out Distractions

They are two of the most dominant programs in the country.
Alabama football. Kentucky basketball.
On the one hand, it’s a blessing for a coach to work in a place where passions run so high. A place where sport is actually more like religion.
On the other hand, it’s a hellish chore. Expectations are higher. Fans are crazier. Every move a coach makes is studied, debated and tweeted about.
When it comes to John Calipari’s new life in the bubble, John Zenor of The Associated Press believes he should pay close attention to how Nick Saban has thrived in his own bubble down Bama way.
For one, he’ll need to block out everything but recruiting and coaching.
“People that have these kinds of jobs that can do that and not be affected by external factors probably have a better chance to succeed, because it can be very distracting,” Saban said.
