Edwards “Didn’t Fit The Mold Of A Gators Coach”

You know who’s not worried about George Edwards’ ridiculously short tenure as Florida’s co-defensive coordinator? Gator recruits, that’s who.
According to signee Lynden Trail, none of the recruits he’s spoken with since Edwards’ departure have even mentioned the surprise move.
“He didn’t seem to fit the mold of a Gators coach. I’m sure he’s a great guy, great family guy, but he didn’t have the intensity of every other Gators coach when he got here.”
Interesting.
As for Edwards’ replacement, there continue to be mentions of former Notre Dame defensive coordinator Corwin Brown in connection to Florida’s co-coordinator gig. But there could be a problem on that front. Brown was recently hired to join Bill Belichick’s staff with the New England Patriots.
Would Urban Meyer — and you better believe Meyer is very involved in this hire regardless of his “leave of absence” — yank someone from his friend’s staff just as Buffalo pulled Edwards from his own?
Regardless of who UF hires, Trail believes the Gators are going to be good. Very good. Great, actually. “I know we’ll bring at least 2-3 national championships.”
Ah, spoken like someone who’s never played college football in the SEC.
