FLORIDA FOOTBALL NEWS – 11/17/08

Last week, South Carolina linebacker Eric Norwood said that Floirda wouldn’t score 40 on his Gamecocks.  He was right.  The Gators scored 56.

Now we’re left to wonder which Palmetto State team gives up more points to Tim Tebow and Company… Steve Spurrier’s squad or this week’s opponent from The Citadel.

Mike Bianchi of The Orlando Sentinel found Saturday’s beatdown of the man who nicknamed The Swamp “The Swamp” to be a little bit sad.  “Seeing Spurrier coming back to The Swamp and getting clobbered was like watching an aging Sinatra returning to the Sands and forgetting the words to ‘My Way.’”

Speaking of singers, Jimmy Buffett was in the Gators’ lockerroom after the game.  And Bill Belichick called to congratulate Urban Meyer and warn him to keep his players’ from reading too many press clippings.  Meyer runs in some odd circles.

It doesn’t sound like Meyer is planning to ease up on the troops this week before their game with The Citadel.

Want some amazing stats?  Here are a few: UF has outscored their last six opponents 101-0 in the first quarter.  They handed Spurrier his worst loss ever.  The list goes on.

Jeremy Fowler of The Sentinel writes that The Swamp now belongs to Meyer, not the man who built it.

Offensive guard Carl Johnson (knee) and linebacker AJ Jones (knee) are both questionable for Saturday’s game with the Bulldogs.  Yeah, like they’d be missed against an FCS team.
